From Humble Beginnings: The Journey of Deeleeo
The journey of Deeleeo began in late March 2019 when our founder, Jackson Payne, frustrated with the complexities of selling items on Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji, sought to create a more efficient way to facilitate these transactions. This vision sparked the development of Deeleeo, a peer-to-peer crowdsourced delivery service that not only addresses personal delivery needs but also redefines local business logistics.
As Deeleeo evolved, it identified a significant demand for improved delivery solutions, quickly adapting to serve both business and personal users. Today, Deeleeo has emerged as a key player in the eCommerce space, offering a robust suite of products including mobile apps, a web portal, integrations with Shopify and Magento, ShipStation compatibility, and comprehensive API documentation. While our vision has expanded since our humble beginnings, our core mission remains steadfast: leveraging to empower local businesses with a reliable and agile delivery solution.
May 2019
Deeleeo Incorporated
Still just an idea, Deeleeo was incorporated on May 14th, 2019. Jackson was training toward the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
January 2020
Technical Development
After months of business model refinement, research on the delivery industry, and involving the right people and investors, tech development started in January 2020 with funding supported by our first partner, Classic Landscapes Limited.
Jackson was also preparing to qualify for 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, but then on March 11, 2020 the world shut down. Just like a lot of people's life, Jackson's future shifted.
September 2020
First Version of Website and App Launch
We had a minimal viable product ready to launch and complete our first delivery in Edmonton, Alberta. On Sept 1st, 2020 our website was launched and on Oct 5th, 2020 both mobile apps hit the app stores.
January 2022
Growing
Within about 15 months we established amazing relationships with over 200 strong and dedicated local entrepreneurs and their businesses within Edmonton and Calgary.
October 2023
Intercity Same-day Delivery!
We launched same-day delivery between Edmonton, Calgary and Red Deer because we saw and heard the need not only from our current customers but also from other local businesses in the community.
August 2024
Scaling & Valet Service Launch!
A new opportunity to pilot the transportation of vehicles from one location to another, and we took advantage of it! Instead of packages, we can transport vehicles! We now offer valet services for everyone. Currently operating our valet service in Edmonton, but will be expanding to other locations soon!
Jackson Payne
Jackson Payne is the founder and CEO of Deeleeo, bringing over 15 years of experience as a member of the Canadian National Gymnastics Team, where he showcased his talent on some of the world's largest stages in over 20 countries. His impressive accolades include competing in seven World Championships, earning multiple World Cup medals, being a four-time Canadian All-Around National Champion, and securing a Commonwealth Games Silver Medal, along with being named the first alternate for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
Now, as a devoted husband to his wife, Julie, and a proud father to daughters Joan, Mindy and Opal, Jackson has transitioned from a remarkable gymnastics career to his next passion: Deeleeo. He is dedicated to empowering local businesses with the ability to leverage a simply, yet agile, delivery solution called Deeleeo.
